"When we were filming Return of the Jedi, Harrison Ford wanted to kill off the Han Solo character at the end.

By the end of Revenge of the Sith, I want the audience to experience the worst moments possible for Star Wars.

I always thought to myself that Revenge of the Sith would be the lowest box office earner of Star Wars because of the very negative atmosphere of the movie. The villains aren't suppose to actually win.

I had this pessimistic outlook because The Empire Strikes Back is the most gloomy and dismal episode of the old films and it ended up making less than half the worldwide box office gross of A New Hope.

The Empire Strikes Back is the least financially successful Star Wars movie by a large margin. That's what I expected for Revenge of the Sith, but it turned out to be the second most popular Star Wars film after The Phantom Menace in cinemas.

The Padme character was always fated to die in the prequels because Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia have no concrete memories of their mother.

Revenge of the Sith worked with audiences because society has become increasingly cynical and jaded. Many fans had been waiting for decades to see the Clone Wars and the total annihilation of the Jedi and Old Republic.
