George Lucas talks about
Obi-Wan Kenobi from Attack
of the Clones
"Obi-Wan has always been one
of my personal favorite Star
Wars characters because he's
so unwittingly instrumental
in the success of the Sith
Lords.
In fact, Obi-Wan's inability
to defuse the character
defects of Anakin Skywalker
eventually leads to the
destruction of civilization
in the galaxy.
Of course, Darth Sidious is
behind most of what happens
including the Clone Wars,
but Obi-Wan also has an
important role.
During The Phantom Menace,
Obi-Wan was the padawan
learner, who was still
trying to find his way
as a Jedi and face the
Jedi Trials.
However, fate allows
Obi-Wan to defeat Darth
Maul thereby avoiding
Obi-Wan's need to
survive the Jedi Trials
in order to become a full
fledged Jedi Knight.
In Attack of the Clones,
Obi-Wan is the unquestioned
master over Anakin, but
Obi-Wan is never able to
control the reckless
nature of Anakin.
From time to time, Anakin
displays self destructive
behavior, which makes
Anakin open to the dark
side.
Obi-Wan isn't able to see
it as a problem. Obi-Wan
tends to ignore the many
shortcomings Anakin has
and Obi-Wan seems to
believe these problems
will somehow vanish in
the future as Anakin
matures and develops
into a proper Jedi.
Obi-Wan's inability to
clearly see the future
allows the Sith conspiracy
to succeed even though
there are only two Sith
Lords fighting over ten
thousand Jedi at the
time of Attack of the
Clones." (Source: George

mythological story
