The Phantom Menace Plot Script
Summary:

The mind bending and astonishing The
Phantom Menace opens with Jedi Knights
Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi sent
from Coruscant to bring stability
and peace between the ultra wealthy
Trade Federation and the planet Naboo.
However, the Trade Federation is in
fact being controlled by the brilliant
political and military genius called
Lord Darth Sidious.

The Trade Federation attempts to kill
Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan, but the two manage
to escape and make it to the surface of
Naboo. The invasion of Naboo begins with
the all powerful droid army of the Trade
Federation crushing the pathetic military
of Naboo. While trying to hide from the
droid army, Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan meet a
remarkable and ingenious character named
Jar Jar Binks.

Out of desperation, the two Jedi form an
alliance with Jar Jar and Jar Jar takes
the Jedi to the hidden underwater paradise
of the Gungans. Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan and Jar Jar
receive a water craft and they travel inside
the hollow water core of Naboo to the Naboo
capital.

The Trade Federation has captured Queen
Amidala, but Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan manage to
rescue the Amidala with the help of the amazing
Jar Jar. The two Jedi and Amidala enter a star
ship and try to escape the Trade Federation
blockade of Naboo. During this struggle, the
hyper drive of the heroes star ship is
destroyed.

The heroes eventually arrive on the desolate
world of Tatooine and begin the search for a
working hyper driver so that they can make it
to Coruscant to see the Jedi Council. In a
chance encounter which ultimately changes the
fate of the galaxy, the heroes meet the young
Anakin Skywalker, who is a slave of a strange
alien creature named Watto.

Eventually, Qui-Gon devises a plan in which
Qui-Gon and the others will receive a hyper
drive and freedom from bondage for Anakin if
Anakin manages to win a pod race. In one of
the most innovative and thrilling action
sequences in the history of cinema, Anakin
achieves victory in the pod race by the will
of the Force and the heroes successfully make
it to Coruscant.

However, Amidala finds that the slow and
corrupt bureaucracy of the Galactic Senate is
unwilling to quickly intervene in the Trade
Federation conquest of Naboo. Amidala decides
to go back to Naboo with Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan and
the extraordinary Jar Jar to liberate Naboo
from the Trade Federation. With good fortune
for the citizens of Naboo, the Gungans agree
to fight with Amidala and her resistance
fighters to defeat the droid military.

While Amidala tries to take back the royal
palace by force, Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan come
across Lord Darth Maul. Although the Jedi had
believed the Sith Lords were extinct, it
turns out the Sith had been hiding in the
shadows patiently waiting to initiate the
Sith conspiracy to destroy the Old Republic
and the Jedi Order.

The most spectacular light saber duel of all
time breaks out between Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan
vs. Darth Maul. Meanwhile, Amidala and her
soldiers fight the Trade Federation while
Anakin and R2D2 accidentally find themselves
in the middle of a star battle above Naboo.
Darth Maul ends up killing Qui-Gon while
Obi-Wan helplessly watches.

A few minutes later, Darth Maul has Obi-Wan
defeated, but Darth Maul hesitates before
making the final kill. In the most fortuitous
upset in the history of Jedi combat, Obi-Wan
outwits Darth Maul and cuts Darth Maul in
half with the luckiest battle fighting move
the galaxy has ever seen. In space above
Naboo, Anakin manages to destroy the Trade
Federation star ship, which controls the
entire droid military on Naboo.

In the end, Amidala defeats the Trade
Federation and Qui-Gon is given a traditional
Jedi pyre burning funeral. Obi-Wan takes it
upon himself to train the young Anakin in
the ways of the Force, which is a decision
leading to the creation of Darth Vader and
the ultimate fall of civilization all across
the galaxy. The Phantom Menace movie
concludes with the people of Naboo
celebrating in a parade on Naboo at having
defeated the tyranny of the evil Trade
Federation.
